Description: Yolanda Retter was involved for many years in advocacy for Latina rights and lesbian rights (particularly lesbians of color), with a focus on historical preservation, and an acute understanding of human interaction. She helped establish the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. She worked for lesbian liberation as an activist with the Latin American Lesbians of Los Angeles and Conexxus Women’s Center/Centro de Mujeres. Additionally, she set up the web-based archive known as the Lesbian History Project, and worked as a librarian and archivist at the UCLA Chicano Studies Resource Center.
