This preliminary communication is used to pinpoint the exact materials you're interested in for your duplication and/or publication request, provide citations used to fill out the forms, and go over fees and expectations if warranted.

Duplication

​Lambda Archives of San Diego may provide copies of some materials from our collections. To place a duplication order, please fill out our Duplications Request form by filling out the form below. Please allow 1-3 days for the staff to respond to your request. Patrons of Lambda Archives may use a digital camera or phone camera without flash while at Lambda Archives for research purposes free of charge.

A duplication request does not constitute permission to publish or otherwise use the image beyond personal research purposes. See the Permissions section for information about using materials from Lambda Archives in publications.

Duplication fees for scans and copies of print materials

Duplication Form

​Permission to use material in publications

To use materials from Lambda Archives in a publication (including books, periodicals, exhibitions, websites, films, and all other uses), please complete the Publication Request form by filling out the form linked below. If you also require scans or digitization services, please see the duplications section for the Duplications Request form.

Lambda Archives of San Diego does not hold copyright to all of the material(s) in our collections. Further copyright clearance may be required in order to use material(s) for publication purposes. Users must obtain written permission from the copyright owner and from Lambda Archives of San Diego as the owners of the physical material(s) to use the material(s) in a publication.

​Payments and order processing

Once we receive your completed forms, we will contact you to arrange payment. Requests for duplications and permissions require 7-14 business days for us to process. We may or may not accept rush orders at our discretion for an additional fee of $50.00.

To make your payment, you may use the donation page and select “enter your own amount “at the bottom of the page. You may also send a check made payable to Lambda Archives of San Diego to 4545 Park Blvd. Suite 104, San Diego, CA 92116. Please note that items (both digital and physical) will be released to the borrower after payment is received.

​Loan requests

Lambda Archives of San Diego may occasionally loan some of our items to other museums and institutions for temporary exhibitions in different curatorial contexts. If you represent an institution that is interested in a loan of any of our materials, please email us at [email protected]. Details about our loan policies and procedures are available upon request. Please note that loans may take several weeks to arrange.
