LGBTQ+ History Presentations and Workshops

ABOUT OUR PRESENTATIONS & WORKSHOPS

Lambda Archives of San Diego provides subject matter expertise on LGBTQ+ history in the San Diego-Tijuana binational region. Our presentations and workshops are presented by Lambda Archives’ staff and historians, utilize powerful primary sources from our own collections, and are built for a wide array of audiences, ranging from K-12 schools to universities to community-based organizations to corporations and beyond.

WHAT WE OFFER

Our presentations draw on Lambda Archives' unique collections and expertise as the only dedicated LGBTQ+ community-based archives serving the San Diego-Tijuana area.

We offer two (2) types of presentations:

  1. General LGBTQ+ History Presentations
    • These presentations provide an overview of local LGBTQ+ history, highlighting significant people, places, events, and movements that have shaped our community. Drawing from our archival collections, we share stories that illuminate the resilience, activism, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals in our binational region.
  2. Tailored Topical or Thematic Presentations
  • These custom presentations focus on specific issues or topics, and are designed to meet specific educational goals or audience interests. Past topics have included:
  1. Queer People in S.T.E.M.
  2. The History of San Diego Pride
  3. Psychiatry - history of the ways it has pathologized homosexuality
  4. Women of the HIV/AIDS Epidemic
  5. Black Queer & Trans History of San Diego

Each presentation is developed in consultation with the requesting organization to ensure relevance and impact for their specific audience and learning objectives.

FEE SCHEDULE

Important Notes:
  • Sliding Scale: Rates are built on a sliding scale based on organization size and budget; organizations that are able to pay the rate at the higher end of the scale allow Lambda Archives to offer pro bono presentations and workshops.
  • Tailored and Customizable Rates: All services are customizable, with tiered rates based on organization size and capacity. Rates may be negotiable; when possible, Lambda Archives is happy to work with organizations to negotiate an appropriate fee structure for both parties.
  • Preparation of Materials: These fees reflect both creating and providing the training. Services including only the creation of training materials and presentations (i.e. without providing the training) may be available upon request.
  • Attendee Limits:
    • In-Person Presentations: In the interest of impact and interactivity, each in-person presentation is capped at 50 attendees. Additional fees may apply for a higher number of attendees.
    • Virtual & Hybrid Presentations: There is no attendance limit for virtual presentations, or for virtual attendees of hybrid presentations. Where appropriate, we will work with clients to determine appropriate capacity for virtual presentations.
